Today: German National Army, Tomorrow: German Soviet Republic — German poster
£9.99
West German poster from 1952 showing a ghoulish Stalin offering military equipment with one hand while stealing bread with the other. The poster was published by the 'Liberation Committee for the Victims of Totalitarian Tyranny' (Befreiungskomitee für die opfer totalitärer willkür) in response to Stalin's 1952 proposal for German unification, which many in West Germany interpreted as a ploy to increase Soviet influence over Germany.
