Yugoslav poster published in 1946 to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the liberation of Sarajevo. The poster shows a partisan waving the flag with the city’s Latin Bridge in the backdrop. Very similar style to the posters of Nikolaj Pirnat, the partisans’ most famous designer, but this one is anonymous.
The capture of Sarajevo was one of the partisans’ last major military operations. The partisans fought German forces for control of the city in early 1945, eventually taking control on April 6, a date subsequently celebrated each year in Sarajevo and, to a lesser degree, throughout Yugoslavia.
